Hawaii Wedding FAQs

What are the requirements to legally marry in Hawaii?

A valid marriage license is all that is required. The process is simple and largely completed online prior to your arrival. Upon landing in Hawaii, you will finalize the process by collecting your license in person.

Only a government-issued photo ID—such as a passport or driver’s license—is required. There are no citizenship or residency restrictions, and your marriage will be legally recognized worldwide.

Following your ceremony, we will take care of filing all necessary legal documentation on your behalf. For certain countries, an Apostille may be required, which can be requested during the licensing process. Your personalized wedding confirmation will include all detailed instructions.

How long does it take to obtain a marriage license?

A marriage license can be applied for and issued on the same day. You may also pre-apply up to one year in advance. Once issued, the license remains valid for 30 days.

When will we receive our marriage certificate?

A temporary digital copy of your marriage certificate is typically available within a few days following your ceremony. A certified hard copy will be mailed to you within approximately 120 days.

Should you require an expedited certified copy, it can be requested online or via the documentation provided during the licensing process.

How do we obtain our Hawaii marriage license?

The process requires a valid photo ID and a $65 state fee. You may begin by applying online in advance.

Upon arrival, you will visit the Hawaii State Department of Health in Honolulu to collect your license. For added convenience, appointments outside regular business hours can be arranged if needed.

What is the best time of year for a Hawaii wedding?

Hawaii offers an exceptional climate year-round, with average temperatures between 75–85°F. Seasonal variation is minimal, although February and March may bring a slightly higher chance of brief showers.

What happens in case of rain?

Island weather is highly localized, meaning rain in one area often does not affect another. Beach locations typically experience lower rainfall.

In the rare event of unfavorable conditions, we seamlessly arrange alternative locations or reschedule your ceremony, subject to availability. Indoor options are also available upon request.

What is the ideal day of the week for a wedding?

For a more private and intimate experience, we recommend weekday ceremonies, as weekends tend to be more active with local residents enjoying the beaches.

How long does the wedding experience last?

Depending on your selected package, your wedding experience ranges from 1 to 5 hours. The ceremony itself typically lasts 18–20 minutes, with the remainder dedicated to professional photography and personalized moments.

Where do hair and makeup services take place?

Our professional stylists come directly to your accommodation, bringing everything needed to prepare you for your special day. All you need is clean skin and dry hair—we take care of the rest.

Should we provide inspiration for hair and makeup?

While our stylists are highly experienced in modern bridal aesthetics, you are welcome to share inspiration images. If you prefer guidance, our team will thoughtfully design a look that complements your features, attire, and overall vision.

What is the Hawaiian lei ceremony?

The lei exchange is a meaningful Hawaiian tradition symbolizing love, respect, and connection. This elegant ritual adds cultural depth and authenticity to your ceremony while honoring both partners and loved ones.

How do we reserve our wedding date?

A non-refundable deposit secures your preferred date and allows us to begin crafting your personalized experience.

Simply contact us with your details, and a dedicated wedding coordinator will respond within 24–48 hours with your tailored confirmation.

What happens after booking?

You will receive a detailed wedding confirmation, including a customization form to refine every aspect of your experience. We kindly ask that this form be completed at least one month prior to your ceremony.

When should we arrive in Hawaii?

We recommend arriving at least two days prior to your ceremony to allow time for adjustment, coordination, and license collection. However, we can accommodate tighter schedules with advanced planning.

What should we wear?

Your wedding style is entirely your choice. From elegant gowns to relaxed island attire, we will guide you based on your vision and location.

For beach ceremonies, we recommend practical footwear such as flats or a second pair of shoes for comfort.

Can wedding packages be customized?

Absolutely. Every element of your wedding can be tailored to reflect your personal style and preferences, ensuring a truly bespoke experience.
